Meet the Arsenal Attorneys at this weekend's Richmond Gun Show at the Raceway November 9-10. There will be an opportunity to attend a video re-play of the program on two future dates in December. The topics included the Gun Control Act, the National Firearms Act, family and juvenile law, and concerns with traveling interstate with firearms.

Our previous blog entry shared news about a continuing legal education program Arsenal Attorneys attended yesterday on gun laws in Virginia. The speakers included renowned Second Amendment lawyer Stephen Holbrook. Mr. Holbrook has a 4-0 record arguing cases before the US Supreme Court. In addition to his law practice, Mr. Holbrook is a distinguished scholar. He has written numerous books on the law, history, and gun control. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy. 

Mr. Holbrook's latest book is "Gun Control in the Third Reich: Disarming the Jews and 'Enemies of the State', and we strongly recommend it. During interviews, Mr. Holbrook discussed how that chapter of history is an example of government regulations amassing data on law abiding citizens, and how such records can later be exploited to repress and brutalize a population. 

History, regulations, data collection, privacy, liberty. Should the modern gun owner in America be concerned?

Arsenal Attorneys' answer is yes.

Privacy in particular is one of the most talked about issues during our consultations with gun owners. It's not difficult for us to illustrate the concerns with realistic situations from modern life. For example, if a client's son must inherit the client's firearms through probate court proceedings, a public record of the client's gun collection could result. Years from now as the client's son applies to college or for jobs, will his application be scrutinized in light of public court records available online and detailing the guns and ammunition inherited from the client?

This story presents Ms. Miller’s personal experiences while providing a fresh and up-to-date perspective on gun rights and gun control politics. She currently serves as Senior Editor of the Washington Times.
